In 2021, 3,741 people died in 3,453 fatal crashes in Florida, about 10 a day. That was 12.4% more than in 2020 (3,329) and the most in any year since 1975. The death rate was 17.1 per 100,000 residents, compared with 13.0 in the United States. Florida had the 3rd most traffic deaths of the 51 states and DC and the 12th-highest death rate. Pedestrians accounted for 22% of deaths, and 10% of fatal crashes were speeding-related.
