In 2024, 3,138 people died in 2,931 fatal crashes in Florida, about 9 a day. That was 7.0% fewer than in 2023 (3,375) and the fewest since 2018. The death rate was 13.5 per 100,000 residents, compared with 11.5 in the United States. Florida had the 3rd most traffic deaths of the 51 states and DC and the 17th-highest death rate. Pedestrians accounted for 21% of deaths, and 11% of fatal crashes were speeding-related.
