In 2024, 279 people died in 265 fatal crashes in Miami-Dade County, Florida. That was 14.2% fewer than in 2023 (325) and the fewest in any year since 2020. The death rate was 9.9 per 100,000 residents, compared with 13.5 in Florida and 11.5 in the United States. Miami-Dade County had the most traffic deaths of any county in Florida. Between 2020 and 2024, 1,577 people died, an average of 315 a year. Pedestrians accounted for 28% of deaths, and 12% of fatal crashes were speeding-related.
