In 2023, 3,375 people died in 3,163 fatal crashes in Florida, about 9 a day. That was 4.9% fewer than in 2022 (3,548) and the fewest since 2020. The death rate was 14.7 per 100,000 residents, compared with 12.2 in the United States. Florida had the 3rd most traffic deaths of the 51 states and DC and the 15th-highest death rate. Pedestrians accounted for 23% of deaths, and 10% of fatal crashes were speeding-related.
