In 2022, 3,548 people died in 3,315 fatal crashes in Florida, about 10 a day. That was 5.2% fewer than in 2021 (3,741) and the fewest since 2020. The death rate was 15.8 per 100,000 residents, compared with 12.8 in the United States. Florida had the 3rd most traffic deaths of the 51 states and DC and the 16th-highest death rate. Pedestrians accounted for 22% of deaths, and 11% of fatal crashes were speeding-related.
