In 2024, 137 people died in 133 fatal crashes in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. That was 1.5% more than in 2023 (135) and the most since 2022. The death rate was 8.7 per 100,000 residents, compared with 8.6 in Pennsylvania and 11.5 in the United States. Philadelphia County had the most traffic deaths of any county in Pennsylvania. Between 2020 and 2024, 713 people died, an average of 143 a year. Pedestrians accounted for 38% of deaths, and 41% of fatal crashes were speeding-related.
