In 2024, 152 people died in 140 fatal crashes in King County, Washington. That was 9.5% fewer than in 2023 (168) and the fewest since 2022. The death rate was 6.6 per 100,000 residents, compared with 9.2 in Washington and 11.5 in the United States. King County had the most traffic deaths of any county in Washington. Between 2020 and 2024, 718 people died, an average of 144 a year. Pedestrians accounted for 34% of deaths, and 30% of fatal crashes were speeding-related.
